Justice Dept. against Net Neutrality

There are times when I feel like the internet is a huge waste of time, and worrying about laws regarding it is an equal waste of time. It generally seems like there are more important things to worry about.

However, there are times when I feel the internet is the most important thing to come along in some time, as it facilitates communication, entertainment, and more. So I do feel pretty strongly about Net Neutrality – the idea that no domain, site, or service should be given preference by ISPs in terms of delivery. All sites should be treated the same and served up to you, the user, with equal speed.

The Justice Department came out and said they are against Net Neutrality. This is not surprising, but is concerning. I do hold hope though that the general shittiness of things the current DOJ does support will tip the balance of favor toward Net Neutrality, and maybe we’ll get a law that protects it.
