“Will fail to develop and carry out a sound strategy for ensuring sustained peace and democracy in Iraq for food”

Rumsfeld told to hit the bricks.

Hooray? Let’s see how his successor does before we pop the cork on the champagne…

  1. Thank you. Our people are still dying in that “democracy”. Let’s put off the celebration until our people are out of harm’s way. That’s not going to happen on Bush’s watch.

  2. Screw it. I’m hittin the bubbly now.

  3. So far I’m pleased. The replacement (Robert Gates) seems to have a history of studying the Iraq situation.
Hopefully his experience will combine with a government that now wants to take a new look at ways to resolve this conflict. As previously commented this is a stepping stone, and as time goes by our military is still making sacrifices.

  4. I read about Gates a bit in “Burn Before Reading”, a rather dry book written by a former Director of Central Intelligence about the history of the position of DCI. Stansfield had good things to say about Gates.
