“Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin dies

What a shock. The guy known for handling dangerous animals all the time is dead, killed by a Stingray while diving. No word on whether his last words were “Crikey” or “Look at this beauty!”

  1. As a teenager in Florida, rays were one of the reasons I didn’t go in the ocean as much as I could have (along with crabs, jellyfish and the little tiny minnow like fish that liked to nibble at you to sort of check you out/scare the shit out of you). When walking out, it was common practice to sort of shuffle, not raise your feet up and put them down, so as to not step on a ray and get shanked. I can’t imagine a scenario where one could stab you in the chest, though.

WTF was Steve doing to Ray?

  2. I have no experience with sting rays, but that sounds scary.
I’m not shocked that somebody who spends so much of their time with dangerous creatures would eventually end up dying because of it. To make no further comment on the amount of dangerous creatures in Australia…

  3. After he pulled that stunt with his baby I lost all respect for the guy. Still it’s always sad that children lose a father and a wife feels the loss of a husband.
