Gluttony, wrath, envy, SUV?
The Church of England has now placed blame for our current environmental issues right where it feels it belongs, with Christians. The church feels that Christ’s flock has been poor stewards of our planet and has now defined what is displeasing to our earth and the lord for it’s parish.
“Making selfish choices, such as flying on holiday or buying a large car, are a symptom of sin,” said Bishop of London Robert Chartres. “Sin is not just a list of moral mistakes. It is living a life turned in on itself where people ignore the consequences of their actions.”
While many can point to the book of Genesis as faulty theology when it comes to making Christians abandon Hummers and not use styrofoam diapers I do commend the Church of England’s position on this. Hopefully the actions of their parish will follow suit.

Hmmm…my opinion of religion in general is that it is just designed to control people. As such I’m not a big fan. However, religion does get some things right, and I think the Church of England is delivering an important message here that might finally get through to some of their people in a way no other medium or institution can.
