Arrest made in JonBenet Ramsey case
While out at lunch, I caught this news story about a former grade school teacher who was arrested yesterday for the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, nearly 10 years after the fact. John Karr was caught in Bangkok where he had been hiding out from an arrest warrant in a 2001 child pornography case. He claims he “was in love with” JonBenet and her death was an accident during a botched kidnap-and-ransom attempt.
The infamous Ramsey murder case isn’t closed, though. We haven’t heard all of Karr’s story, and there are some doubts about it. His ex-wife says she was with him throughout the 1996 holiday season (when Ramsey was killed) in Alabama, and that Karr couldn’t possibly have committed the crime in Colorado. I don’t know many ex-wives who would lie to protect their former husbands, especially one already trying to dodge child porn charges. Even a former FBI profiler said his statements looked made-up, and that he might just be a loose screw who was obsessed with the case and confessed. He wouldn’t be the only one to do that.
