They forgot one.

TIME earlier this month published a “50 Coolest Web sites of 2006“, but they forgot Billy Ocean, Student Council Treasurer, so clearly their list can be wholly discounted.

I both love and hate these kind of lists. On the one hand, I like to see what other people think and why. Also there is the chance that one will stumble across something one did not know about, but really like after finding it. These kind of lists also offer the opportunity to debate the merits of the various things listed. What do you agree with? What do you think they totally got wrong?

On the other hand, it’s all just so subjective. Even my criticisms of their list are subjective, so why bother? And so much of it just goes to things that are popular. Take for instance the fact that MySpace made the list. Sure, it’s one of the most popular sites, but the coolest? I don’t think the two equate. Still subjective here, of course.

Anyway, valuable or not, these kind of lists are part of human nature and here to stay. But whatever the case, Godfather Part II is not the greatest movie ever made.

  1. that’s bollocks. you know the author of that article just went to google and typed in random keywords to find those sites.

  2. “Godfather Part II is not the greatest movie ever made”

    Them’s fighting words.

  3. Whatever. Godfather? OK. I can see the argument there. And Godfather II was great, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t think it surpassed its originator.

And for my money, Apocalypse Now will always be Coppola’s best work.
